Salesforce.com has agreed a deal to buy Model Metrics for an undisclosed amount in order to advance its social media offerings.
Model Metrics, founded in 2003, is a mobile and social cloud consulting company with over 500 customers across the world.
The purchase will merge the San Francisco headquartered Salesforce.com’s customer relationship management (CRM) services with new social media tools and apps, developed with Model Metrics. This will enable the legions of salesforce.com customers around the world to exploit the wealth of information that is available through social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
George Hu, chief operating officer at salesforce.com, said: "We are thrilled with the incredible response from customers and partners to the social enterprise vision.
“The addition of Model Metrics' mobile and social expertise will accelerate salesforce.com's ability to lead the shift to the social enterprise and empower partners to develop their social enterprise practice.”
Adam Caplan, founder and CEO of Model Metrics, added: “"Salesforce.com and Model Metrics share a vision for the social enterprise.
“By joining salesforce.com, we can help more companies unlock the value of cloud computing with disruptive mobile and social technologies.”
Salesforce.com expects the deal to be completed by the end of its financial year.
