BPM vs ACM - which is the best business model?

IT advisory firm to post open access on-demand lecture series exploring the subject from Wednesday.

IT industry analyst firm MWD Advisors is publishing a series of virtual on-demand lectures this Wednesday (19 October) which will assess the history, role, and best practice involved with business process management (BPM).

BPM is a continuous improvement based efficiency methodology which is often delivered as a cloud based software-as-a-service.

The webcasts, to be delivered in four parts by MWD’s BPM expert and research director Neil Ward-Dutton, will explore the idea that BPM as a set of tools is being rendered obsolete by the emergence of the supposedly more dynamic and flexible  'Adaptive Case Management' (ACM).

Ward-Dutton will explore the benefits, capabilities and trade-offs between the two models.

Refreshingly, MWD says users will not have to register to watch the series of videos, all four of which are to be published simultaneously. The company will also have a virtual exhibition hall in place manned by BPM sponsors and has released a self assessment firm to help companies determine their needs.

The four lecture topics in the webcast series are as follows:

Part 1: From Taylor to BPM, and beyond

The history of process improvement and how today's BPM technology approach builds on - and differs from - what's gone before...

Part 2: The anatomy of work, and how to manage it
Introducing a model for BPM technology approaches that maximises business value and ensures quality outcomes.

Part 3: BPM and ACM: where do they fit?

Learn how MWD's work management model illustrates how today's thinking about BPM and ACM approaches fit into the broader landscape of work management - and how the two complement each other.

Part 4: Setting your strategy for performance improvement

Learn how enterprises can get started with setting a strategy for technology-enabled performance improvement that clearly illustrates where particular technology approaches make sense – and what different kinds of technology and practice options are available.
