More than 200 senior delegates from leading UK companies convened in London yesterday for the 7th Cloud Circle Forum.
The event was the latest in the series of Cloud Circle Forums, following the 6th Forum in July, and progressed the theme of business transformation through the cloud. Once again, the event was held at the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel in the centre of the capital.
Representing a broad mixture of business types and sizes, attendees engaged in the latest thought leadership with presentations from cloud service providers, case studies from fellow users, panel debates and sector specific industry round tables.
Speakers at the day-long event included Matt McNeil, EMEA enterprise solutions lead for Google; Simon May, cloud evangelist for Microsoft; and Peter Simmonds, a former chief information security officer for Britain's second and the world's seventh biggest pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.
Emma Taylor, founder and managing director of The Cloud Circle, said the event was a “huge success”, commenting that attendees appeared to be a lot more engaged in the more complex issues surrounding the cloud than perhaps has previously been the case.
She said: “We are now seeing more and more that delegates are coming to these events with a real foothold on the subject matter and with some very specific issues that they are interested in finding out more about. Gone, it seems, are the days when people needed basic introductions to the values of cloud computing or were wondering if it was all just a fad.
“Audience engagement within some of the sessions yesterday was probably higher than it has ever been before. And many of our sponsors noted that they had some very constructive conversations throughout the day. The panel debate session, which continued in the same vein in the proceeding Industry Trends Report analysis session, could have kept on going all afternoon if we had wanted to. The question and comments were coming through on tap and it seemed that everybody had something they wanted to explore or an experience that they wanted to share.
“Overall, the feedback we've had so far for this event has been excellent and I'm thrilled that our members see it as a valuable aid for their projects and understanding.”
The event is going to be repeated at the same venue on November 24. Free places are still available. To secure one for you and/or a colleague, email Sophie Hardman at sophie.hardman@thecloudcircle.com.
