On Friday (2 December) The Cloud Circle held its final event of 2011 – the 2nd Cloud Circle Security Conference – at London conference centre 15 Hatfields, completing a portfolio of 35 events throughout the calendar year.
The Security Conference was a repeat programme of the 1st Cloud Circle Security Conference back in October after strong demand saw the first iteration quickly reach capacity. A change of venue this time around moved the conference from the Hilton near Tower Bridge to sustainable focussed conferencing centre 15 Hatfields in Waterloo.
The conference was once again booked to capacity once again with over 100 delegates joining us from Britain’s leading public and private organisations from around the country.
From a wide range of industry sectors and featuring all sizes of organisation, the list of employers represented on the day included BAE Systems, GlaxoSmithKline, TalkTalk, Amnesty International and AXA.
The cloud suppliers present on the day to offer insights into current cloud trends and to help delegates assess solutions included Cable & Wireless, EMC, Google, Microsoft, Mozy, Nebulas and Webroot.
As well as the keynote presentations, attendees indulged in a panel debate chaired by Peter Leahy of Endsleigh Insurance and all of the morning’s speakers as well as a session of industry sector specific peer-driven roundtables.
Emma Taylor, founder and managing director of The Cloud Circle, said the event offered a high level of insight and networking and it was a fitting way to end a busy year of cloud computing events.
She said: “We are delighted with the success of our 2nd Cloud Circle Security Conference. After the first one ran out of places very quickly we felt that we should repeat the programme for everyone who missed out. Such was the popularity of the event that this one was booked to capacity too.
“These two conferences have allowed us to drill down into the much discussed and often contentious issue of security in the cloud. I thought the presentations were excellent, offering delegates some very tenable practical solutions to security-based obstacles they face in their own cloud journeys and there was some good ideological discussion too.
“My favourite part of conferences like these is the networking that occurs between delegates, among both themselves and with suppliers. We know from keeping in touch with all of our members that some very mutually beneficial business relationships have arisen out of our events and I am thrilled that this is the case.”
The Cloud Circle returns with a full portfolio of events in 2012, including conferences, forums, masterclasses and executive dinners. If you are interested in finding out the event schedule or suggesting topics to cover please contact Milly Blundell at milly.blundell@thecloudcircle.com.
