The 1st Cloud Circle Security Conference, the UK’s first event addressing cloud security, took place last Friday (7 October) at the Hilton Tower Bridge hotel, London.
Over 100 delegates attended the day-long event which played host to thought leadership presentations, drill down sessions, round table discussions and a panel debate – each focussed around issues of cloud security.
The speakers at the event were Microsoft’s Steve Plank, Rashmi Knowles from RSA, Webroot’s Ian Moyse, Osborne Clarke’s Mark Webber, Giampero Saracino from EMC, HP’s Eoin Fleming and Jericho Forum co-founder Paul Simmonds. For the panel debate at the end of the day, Des Ward, president of the Cloud Security Alliance, was joined by Webroot’s Paul Reynolds, RSA’s Robert Griffin and Steve Plank to field questions from the audience.
Between the in-depth presentations and specialist sessions, delegates were given the opportunity to meet and network with both peers and the day’s sponsors. With people still perceiving security issues to be the biggest danger of entering the cloud, the day took great strides to address the concerns that many of the attendees had.
Emma Taylor, founder and managing director of The Cloud Circle, described the day as “a real success”.
She said: “As the event was the first of its kind, I am extremely pleased with how it went. The feedback from sponsors and delegates alike has been very positive.
“The presentations proved to be very useful and insightful while the subject matter was of clear interest and importance to all who attended. I heard from a number of delegates that they now believe they are a couple of steps closer to realising their needs through the cloud as a result of today.”
The event is to be repeated on 2 December. If you and/or your colleagues wish to attend, please contact Oonagh Fawcett-Wood on oonagh.fawcettwood@thecloudcircle.com.
